powder room mood board

This is my first mood board ever and I think I got a little carried away. I kept wanting to add more and more and more and had to remind myself that I’m not King Henry VII and the room is only the size of a closet. Anyway, here’s the flavor I’m going for. Some of the ideas came from these inspiration pics. The tile is meant to take up only one wall, and the rest of the room will be the darker grey. If you have any ideas, I’d love to get your perspective.

Other bloggers make it look so easy to throw together a mood board, like they did it over their lunch break, but it took me a long time to settle on these bits and pieces. I can surf for light fixtures alone for hours. Even now I feel like I haven’t exhausted all the avenues. What if there’s something better, cheaper, cooler? Sounds like the makings of analysis paralysis. I’ll just have to push forth. My next step is to call the town and find out what’s required for a builder’s permit.

In any case, I got another boost of confidence when I stumbled upon DIY Diva, the blog of my new hero. This girl does full-on house additions, with framing and everything, and puts up drywall BY HERSELF. I’m completely sucked in. It’s like a contractor’s soap opera.

Great pieces! I can’t wait to see the finished room!

I really like the green accent with the gray! So, even if you don’t do that exact plant I highly vote for some green accent in there! ;-) And, hope you can find that horse, ha ha! Just kidding! Do you think that will be enough lighting in there – do you think you’ll need/have any other?! I can’t wait to see how it goes! GOOD LUCK!

Hi Amy — Oh, thanks! Yes, I think there will be some greenery. I have to see what they sell around here. As far lights, there will be a small overhead light, too, but I have yet to figure it out.

Do you have a paint color name yet for that gray wall color?

Amy — No, not yet. I just clicked something in the photoshop paint palette that looked good. I stopped by a Benjamin Moore paint store and grabbed every gray paint chip they had. This can only lead to hours of maddening indecision. I think I’ll need to pick the tiles first, and then pick a gray that works well with that. As soon as I pick out the exact materials, I’ll list them all, and their pricing, too.
